Ubuntu, HP-2000, and disabling the touch pad

The last post mentioned of my troubles with the left palm contacting the touch pad, then, sending the mouse pointer off in random directions. Well, correction, it is my right palm. The centering of the touch pad is a tad to the right.

Well, thanks to the System Settings, the touch pad is now disabled and it is with the mouse only. That has been very helpful. Funny thing that needed to be fixed last night was the icons for the Trash and other items in the System Settings were not present. They were invisible.

Thank you INTERNET posts and troubles that others have had. Simple cycle the System Settings -> Appearance -> Theme, then  ambiance setting. The cycling to the other settings corrected that problem.
